ON THE RADIO

I had the opportunity to be a guest of WJTL radio station (90.3 FM), Saturday, October 13th, on their Kid's Cookie Break show. I had a great time chatting with the host, Lisa Landis, and reading some of my poems. Lisa and I read a "Silly Dialogue" poem I wrote as a rhyming exercise for kids. It's simply a silly conversation between two people that incorporates words with the same ending sound - or words that rhyme. I encourage kids to make up a silly dialogue with a friend in the same way. It is a lot of fun and is sure to get their brains thinking creatively! Here is the "Silly Dialogue" Lisa and I read on the air:

Achoo!
Bless you.
Thank you.
Would you like a tissue?
Yes please, maybe two.
Take a few. I had the flu too.
I never knew!
Well, it's true.
What did you do?
I went to see Dr. Drew. He fixed me up as good as new.
Lucky you.
You'll pull through.
But I'm too sick to go with Mary Lou to the zoo.
The zoo in Peru?
No, Kalamazoo.
I went there with Sue.
Did you see the cebu?
Yes, and the kangaroo. So what will you do since you can't go to the zoo?
I haven't a clue.
You could play the kazoo.
My kazoo's filled with goo.
You could paddle a canoe through a river of shampoo.
I'm afraid it would cause a hullabaloo!
You could cook up a batch of bluefish stew.
EWWWWWWW!
Then why don't you make a chocolate fondue?
Yes, THAT'S what I'll do!
Well it's been nice chatting with you.
And with you too.
Adieu!
Adeiu!
